What is The Rocket Hack 2019?

The Rocket Hack 2019 is a collaborative event, aimed at providing participants with an opportunity to innovate, network and the possibility of winning prizes. For the avoidance of doubt, you are under no obligation to develop or produce an idea or outcome during The Rocket Hack 2019.

Who is organising it?

The Rocket Hack 2019 is organised by Nomad Digital Limited (“Nomad Digital”). Nomad Digital is the leading provider of passenger and intelligent fleet connectivity solutions for trains, metros, trams and buses globally.

When and where is it?

The Rocket Hack 2019 will take place on 14 and 15 September 2019, between 10.00 and 18.30, at Generator Studios, Trafalgar Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, England NE1 2LA.

What are the rules?

If you are selected to participate in The Rocket Hack 2019, you will be provided with a starter pack. Your starter pack will detail – amongst other things – the rules and a code of conduct, as well as an event schedule, and information on team selection, prizes and judging criteria.

Who can apply?

Anyone over the age of 18 years old can apply to take part in The Rocket Hack 2019.

The Rocket Hack 2019 is aimed at developers, designers, project managers and entrepreneurs – working professionals, university students or otherwise.

No prior experience is required, however – in order to get the best out of The Rocket Hack 2019 – an interest in transport, technology and innovation is recommended.     

How do you apply?

If you would like to apply to take part in The Rocket Hack 2019, please visit www.therockethack.co.uk and complete the application form in the apply area.

Applications close on 10 September 2019.

If your application is successful, Nomad Digital will contact you prior to the event. Thereafter, Nomad Digital will provide you with additional information regarding The Rocket Hack 2019, including your starter pack and ticket.

Please note that Nomad Digital reserves the right to reject your application without explanation, provided that it has reasonable grounds to do so.

What about your personal data?

Nomad Digital is committed to protecting your personal data.

At this stage, the processing of your personal data is necessary in order to assess your suitability for The Rocket Hack 2019, which Nomad Digital regards to be a legitimate interest. The personal data that Nomad Digital processes in relation to your application is limited to your first name, your last name and your email address. Nomad Digital does not share your personal data with any other third party.

If your application is successful, you will be provided with a comprehensive privacy notice, which will detail your privacy rights as a participant in The Rocket Hack 2019. If your application is unsuccessful, your personal data will be securely deleted without undue delay. For the avoidance of doubt, Nomad Digital does not retain your personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose on which it was originally collected.

What happens to any intellectual property rights created during The Rocket Hack 2019?

Any intellectual property rights created during The Rocket Hack 2019 are retained by the creator.

Nomad Digital may be interested in working with participants following The Rocket Hack 2019 – including in relation to the development, exploitation or commercialisation of intellectual property rights created during The Rocket Hack 2019 – so it requests that participants agree to enter into good faith discussions to consider such opportunities, if Nomad Digital makes a request to do so.

Any third-party intellectual property rights used during The Rocket Hack 2019 are retained by the relevant third party.

Nomad Digital will ensure that, in relation to any third-party intellectual property rights that it provides to participants during the course of The Rocket Hack 2019, it has the legal right to do so. Third party intellectual property rights will be clearly identified as such, and used in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions of licence.

Participants shall not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. For the avoidance of doubt, Nomad Digital bears no liability or responsibility for any participants who infringe the intellectual property rights of a third party.

Legal

  • Nomad Digital reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend The Rocket Hack 2019 at any time and for any reason.
  • The participant agrees not to hold Nomad Digital responsible or liable for any loss or damage sustained during The Rocket Hack 2019. For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in these terms and conditions shall absolve, or attempt to absolve, Nomad Digital from any responsibility or liability that cannot be legally excluded or restricted.
  • During the course of The Rocket Hack 2019, the participant agrees:
    • to promptly observe and comply with all reasonable instructions, directions and / or regulations issued by, or on behalf of, Nomad Digital and / or the emergency services;
    • to comply with the code of conduct;
    • not to act in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
    • not to bully, insult, intimidate, threaten or humiliate any other participant;
    • not to be defamatory of any person or company;
    • not to be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory;
    • not to use or promote material of a sexually explicit, violent or otherwise inappropriate nature; and
    • not to knowingly transmit any data, or send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware
    • to allow Nomad/Rocket Hack reserving the right to capture and use photography and video footage for marketing purposes including but not limited to press, publications, social media etc, including use by carefully selected/involved 3rd party partners.
